Collaborating through the Duke Clinical Research Institute, Whitney served as a lead advocate for patient access to the outcomes of their participation in Project Baseline, called the Return of Results. Often when an individual participates in a clinical trial or research study, diagnostic tests or screenings are conducted and the individual often does not know the results of those tests, nor do they access the research outcomes or know what role their own story had in the study. Project Baseline changed that conversation and worked to updated individuals throughout the study, sharing the test results with patients.
We are strongest when we come together and work transparently toward shared goals.
Led by Verily, a subsidiary of Alphabet and sister company to Google focused on life sciences and healthcare, Project Baseline is a multidisciplinary coalition of researchers, clinicians, engineers, designers, advocates, and volunteers like you, united by our desire to accelerate health innovation. Each member of Project Baseline contributes something unique to our medical and scientific understanding of health and disease.
