TEDMED Great Challenges Program and Great Challenges Day are initiatives funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in 2012-2013.
Whitney championed the creation and growth of an online community across every level of health and health care – patients, caregivers, researchers, journalists, and innovators.
Whitney developed the strategy to support an active online community on Twitter (61,000+), Facebook (29,000+), Google+ (320,000+) and created and produced customized programming with world-renowned discussion moderators, guests and topics, to provoke exploration and engagement on 50 Google+ live hangouts and in-person events.
These events focused on the toughest topics facing health and health care: genomic medicine, changing the health system approach to address the whole patient, incorporating inclusive health care approaches, and more!
